Australian shares are poised to rise on Wednesday, as global economic and geopolitical uncertainty boosts safe-haven demand for gold and silver, while investors await the outcome of the US Federal Reserve's policy meeting.
Overnight, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.4% and 0.9%, respectively, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.8%.
In the macroeconomy, Australia's consumer price index report is due at 11:30 am Sydney time.
In corporate news, Woodside Energy Group (ASX:WDS) revenue fell to $3.04 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025 from $3.48 billion a year earlier.
Ampol (ASX:ALD) reported fourth-quarter 2025 total sales volume of 6.7 billion liters, down from 7.49 billion liters a year earlier.
Australia's benchmark index rose 0.9% or 81.5 points to close at 8,941.60 on Tuesday.
